Conceived as an exploration of demolition waste, it tests how discarded brick can be reconstituted into a working lighting object while keeping the traces of where it came from visible.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe form takes its proportions from a traditional rectangular brick — reduced to its most basic geometry — with a dome added to let the light diffuse from within. The result sits between two things: the sharp edge of the brick, and the soft curve that lets it glow.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eMaking\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eCast from brick rubble and cement — demolition waste reclaimed from sites across KwaZulu-Natal, sorted, crushed, and bound. The form was developed digitally, 3D-printed as a master pattern, and used to produce the silicone mould each piece is cast from.
